John Makepeace, PEng, LEEDTM AP
President and General Manager
After graduating from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, John worked as a Project Manager and Design Engineer for a large, national mechanical engineering firm. For many years prior to that, he had been a miner and mine manager for the world's largest jade mining operation. In 1991, he founded Jade West Engineering Co. Ltd.

Derrick Moore, AScT, LEEDTM AP
Project Manager
Derrick left the Canadian Coast Guard in 1994 and became a Designer with Jade West. After a couple of years with another engineering firm, he returned in 2001 to become a Project Manager.

Leila Vaive, PEng
Project Manager
Upon graduation from Shanghai Jiao-Tong University, Leila worked as an Assistant Engineer and then as a Supervisor in the Mechanical Manufacturing Industry. She emigrated to Canada and started working as a Designer in the Consulting Industry in Vancouver in 1993. She received her Professional Designation in 2003 and joined Jade West in August of 2004.
